Still doing a little umpiring, two games a day seems to be enough.

I am doing a number of provincial championships as Umpire In Chief (UIC) or deputy UIC, which keeps my head in the game.

We are hosting the Canadian Ladies Fast pitch championship in 2026, which should be fun.

Here are a few of my friends.

  • We have osprey who live in the lights on a couple of diamonds at Great Chief Park in Red Deer.
  • Another osprey bringing fish from the river for the kids.

We had 189 registered umpires last year covering from north of Calgary, south of Edmonton and east and west to the Alberta borders. Our assignor does a heck of a job assigning about 850 games during the season. And that doesn’t include another 800 weekend tournament games which are assigned by the UIC’s for those tournaments.
